Loikaw and environs 4 Days / 3 Nights

Day 1 Heho Airport / Inle Lake or Kalaw to Loikaw

Guests will be picked up from the hotel in Kalaw or Inle Lake/Nyaungshwe or from Heho airport and about 5 hours drive through Pinlong Road to Loikaw, the capital of Kaya State. After check in the hotel, take a break before the evening visit to a beautiful Taung Kwe Zedi, the landmark of the city.
*** Alternatively, one can arrive Loikaw from Yangon by bus and flight. There is a daily day-train service from Kalaw and Aungban for cheaper option but it can take whole day. Those who coming from Inle Lake can take boat to Hpe Khon thru Sagar ancient kingdom and then by private car to Loikaw.

Day 2 Loikaw and environs visits

After breakfast at the hotel, about one and half hour drive to Pemsong village. On arrival, guests are welcomed in a local home where you will enjoy a hot drink and a simple local snack. The local guide will show you around the village. Afterwards, continue drive to Rang Ku village where the famous Kayan people live, who are also known as Long Neck Karen, a symbol of Kayah state. Enjoy your time by visiting several Kayan houses & interacting with these fun-loving and artistic people. Of course, you will learn a few words of Kayan language.

As an option, those who like to do the long trek about 4 hours, can stay behind the group at Pemsong village, and set off on a moderately challenging trek, through lush and shady forest, and meet the rest of the group at Rang Ku village

Day 3 Loikaw and environs visits

After breakfast at the hotel, about one hour and 15 min drive to Hta Nee La Leh village. Welcomed by local guide and visit the Kayhtoebo site and Hunting Shrine, to learn about local beliefs and spiritual life. These sites are considered to be the heart of life in this village, and a ‘must’ see for visitors. A visit to local hunting shrine will also be made, where the guests can try their hand using a catapult. In addition, enjoy a fun Ox Cart ride via the Lotus Pond to the scenic 7 Lakes where you will enjoy a delicious Kayah Barbecue for lunch. Relax by the lake and enjoy the forested, mountain scenery before driving back to Loikaw to visit the museum & a weaving school

Day 4 Departure

After breakfast at the hotel, about one and half hour drive to Phe Kon, a small town from where you will take the boat to Inle lake via Sagar, seldom-visited village, located deep south of the lake where there’re ancient ruins. The boat ride will take about five-hour all the way from Phe Kon to Inle lake.

*** Alternatively, one can travel to Aungban and Kalaw by train (0545-1600hrs) or to Heho and Nyaungshwe/Inle by private car. There are also direct flights to Yangon on select dates.
